Went down for a taste of the Beaver! Smile

Never really powered fully on the 6.3 but the water was nice and flat on the run and there were juicy ramps on the outside. Good to Stringer & Snake also enjoying the action.

Looking forward to a windier day when the magic of the Beaver can really be revealed.

bazinga! finally! i have really struggled with my alphas for sooooooo long, but today i managed to get 4 faster than my previous PB (23.67), the first one was on the 113 Fanatic Falcon with the 7.0 RSR evo ii and 30 FO weedy. This board HATES that fin, or maybe i had the mast track too far back... didn't bother to find out as the wind picked up and i changed down to the 6.2 and 85 falcon with 23CL.

I was on an alpha mission today and really pleased to see the results. i was not feeling the first setup at all and was in need of a good soul searching.

Only went for speed runs towards the end of the day finished up about 6:30PM when i think it was at its strongest. say 22-24 gusts with nice flat water even at high tide, could have done ith the 7.0 for some extra grunt and also could have used the CA44 speed board but I needed to nail the alphas while i had them in my sights.

Next target is the holy grail (25 knot alpha). nearly had it with ...ahem... trackpoints :) but they are so 2009!

Shoulder and hands are sore as right now but well worth it...

maybe wednesday will see some more action :S

Cervantes, Regs speed challenge got some serious wind for a change, given the sea state it could be argued a little to mutch wind.managed to hold it all together for one decent peak the rest of the time it was survival.

Cervantes radar gun mission. 6.4m, Mistral speed 55, CL29.

Went a bit hard on the first run into the beach and got nailed by a gust which catapaulted me at 67 and broke my mast in 2 places. Ooops. Back on the water for some more punishment and after securing radar glory I stuck on the 41 for some GPS runs. Nice thunderstorm came through and put a stop for the day as the wind switched off and we swam in. Some good crashes today. Hope Istacks shoulder recovers soon. Nice one benny for stealing my board and smoking the GPS for the day... and thanks for not hitting me when you catapaulted...

Nice Pbs men. How did you actually get your shoulder to pop out Issac?

Sadly i have to say that it popped out as i was about to waterstart the sail jolted back towards me and the pulled again in a very quick motion and it just clicked out! i knew something wasnt right and lost all strength in my right arm. was considering still trying to sail in but it was only moments later my arm was dead weight and in severe pain. Luckily  another sailor was close by considering i went a fair way out the back. Told him i just cant waterstart and needed boat rescue so he was quick to get onto this while i drifted away into the big blue :)  I tried to waterstart nonetheless and my rig flew away about 10 metres so had to do the one arm swim :) Stayed on my gear and waited for Reg to save me :)

Timeframe isnt looking flash at the moment. Its almost certain i would need surgery to make sure my stretched ligaments dont allow this to occur again. Apparently once this has happened the ligaments are permanently stretched and there is a 50-90% chance of reoccurance. I am seeing a sports physio and orthopedic surgeon this week will get more news. atm im looking at numbers around 12 weeks.

Hopefully get onto some mountain biking or something else alot sooner to keep fit and help strengthen it up.

Congratulations on those PB's Isaac, sorry your day was spoilt by injury, and not even a spectacular off to credit it to! It is a bit alarming that dislocation can happen so easily. Sudden sail movements like that happen all the time in our sport.

Best wishes for a speedy recovery without surgery.

Hard luck Isaac, welcome to the bung shoulder club. 12 weeks minimum i reckon, terrible timing bud but at least you made it to hospital safely. Be careful on the bike. Are you right handed?

Isaac

Just in case you need second opinions -

Been there and highly recommend Dr. Grant Booth at Perth Shoulder Clinic at Bethesda Hospital (he's a windsurfer)

Brett Slocombe - Cottesloe Sports Physio (works with Olympic Athletes and saved me from having unnecessary surgery)

Yeh right handed ! So it won't feel so natural using the left :p Thanks for the goodluck hopefully I don't need it ! Going to cott and Brett is booked until after I go to work so am seeing his apprentice. Will hopefully get in to see Brett in the future. Will have to look Grant up and see what he thinks! Did your shoulder dislocate stringer or was it just buggered?!

Well it feels like someone else is doing it so not sure if that will feel unnatural for you hahaha. Nah I've never dislocated it, I think the ligaments that hold you shoulder in are different to the one I tore off - the labrum. Go to work like everything's OK and then ....OUCH!!!! Workers comp. :)

Congrats on the PB's Stringer and Isaac.  Commiserations on the shoulder though Isaac.  Sounds like Cervantes was a windsurf shops dream Wink
