Next time PJ for sure. I just found your number

The days sailing plan was for Alpha and hour but you know how it is, sometimes you just settle in and conditions allowed for that session. When i got there the spit was exposed all the way out and 15 knots was blowing so just reached back and forth for 3 hours waiting to get on the spit. Then onto the spit with the rising tide till late afternoon on the chop. Was pretty worn out by then but the tide had turned  and thought keep going until the fin grounds on the retreating tide. The wind picked up during the afternoon and by the time the water flattened off late the wind backed off  and was coming off the plane. Otherwise would have gone until dark and joined the 250 club.Wink

Do you wear gloves doing distance PJ?

Nice JeffCool.

Keen to come and spend a day doing distance with you and TrickySmile.  Let me know on a weekend when conditions look good.  Can you use bigger fins and non weedy?  I guess it depends on high / low tide???

Carl if its a SE you need a weedie in a northlery you could sail around the cork week lumps but I get pissed off so the weedie is just easier. other winds varies on the day.

You can use any size fin you just stay further from the spit the closer you get the smoother it is. The razor fish go clickity click when you get too shallow. BOOTs are a must!! long legs(wet suit) are a good idea as the razor fish are dam sharp! at low tide thers is abit of a sludge in the bog but not too bad proberley easier than LG. There is grass to rig on, A shower to wash off under & A BBQ that takes your money (20c bits)

Jeff no gloves. For distance = right size sail and well balanced harness lines so just have hands lightly resting, gripping the boom. What does kill my hands is gybing and sailing through choppy water which bounces the rig around and hence affects my hands.

Jeff whwn I have done some distance days i always use a small weed fin 24 or 30 at the largest.and inboard straps that way your ankles and shins don't cop a hiding, oh and flat water really helps.

Thanks guys.

Ordered some gloves to try.

Iwas handling the session ok but my hands were stinging near the finnish when moving them to gybe

What is the big four attempt Jimbob?

I have all of February off as does Jimbob. "Big four attempt" is 400 plus km's!! I've tried a couple times and not quite. Recon we can do that at Lake George as I'll be staying in Millicent. Water levels should still be high enough there for flat water, just need wind over whole of 12 hours plus.
