Jimbob (11323km): quick morning blast with the boys. Lake George, SA, AU from the spit, SW TO S 15 to 20 frontal wind, F2 SXS, 5.8 KA Koncept, 24 choco weedy. good to have some crew around, decepit from wa, hamma rick and choc from barmera, hollywood and red from over there. and chris D from adelaide. just went out and sailed didn't go for numbers as really not windy enough, was FLAT everywhere has a look around at the start but it didn't matter as everywhere was sweet, very flat behind the islands and down the spit runbut nearly too shallow to run there now, and even went right down to choco land. had to leave early arvo was still blowing ok when i left. waqs surprised by the hour as was going up and downwind and stopping to mingle.
Tricky (3458km): Quick spin with Jeff & Simon, Kinetic 57 Koncept 5.8 Delta 22 . Jeff rang and it was calm as here, packed gear & the wind just started & so did the rain drove down & sat around contemplating when Simon rolled in & said 6.6 with a big grin . might have been the best choice after all. Nice arvo cruzin. Hope the LG boys did OK.
hoppy (4588km): Stansbury, SA, AU SSW 10-15 gusting to 20 F2 sxs 90, 5m Koncept, BP 23.5 weedy
Underdone on the 5 but stayed out anyway. Struggled to get going but some stronger gusts provided some good runs. Tricky and Simon sailed as well. Good workout
Trousers (944km): Boggy Lake, SA, AU Huey was very angry today. Arrived at midday; my car was being rocked around on the shore and the lake was more white water than not. I'd say early-to-mid thirties mostly south and waaaaay too much for my 'smallest' sail of 6m. There were some Swiss visitors who went out on four metre sails, did one overpowered leg and came straight back into shore. It was nasty.. A couple of hours later it dropped down to acceptible and not wanting to waste the petrol I went out regardless with Christian. Very lively on my 6m/100lt/32.5cm kit. i had tried to detune everything but no matter - I was overcooked in the gusts where it was white knuckle riding, thinking at least they'll say I died doing what I loved. Leon arrived and let me ride his 83lt around which allowed me to tame the shrew and I started to find some board control at last. but of course just when I get dialled it started to drop out although kept lumpy. Gusts still came thru but I was beat. I limped to shore, licked my wounds and wrote off the session, at least I clocked some time on water. Tough day, I'll sleep well tonight.
Choco (9631km): First sail at Lake George in a long time, forecast was for 20-30knts but we would have been lucky to have got 15-20knts(with ocassional rain squall in the morning), gear was way to small today left my 90 litre slalom home but gee it was still fun, forgot how great this place is plenty of flat water to be found in both lakes, great to catch up with some old and new faces looking forward to solid 30knt SSE. Chris Dimond (5865km): Lake George, SA, AU iSW54 / 7.0 R2 / Vector Speed Weed 25 Nice to be back at Lake George again. Wind was only 15 - 20 or so, and not the forecast 20 - 30, but it was still great fun. It was nice to try the 7.0 on my speed board - a combo that I wouldn't normally use, but with the 25 fin, it all came together nicely. Great to sail with a mix of people from all over (SA, Vic, + WA), and always good to catch up again with some LG regulars, and Speed Demons. Looking forward to the next trip!!
Hamma (9361km): Mistral Speed 47,RS 5.8 EVO 4.C3 Slingshot 21, Lake George Way underdone today, of sold all my sails and only have a 5.8 left as most of the boys were on 6.5 or 7.0.Nice to get on the board again and surprised to get going in 15-20.The slingshot was catching way to much weed, very hard to get started.Changed to the weedy later and was a lot better.Great to catch with everyone again. |
