First half of the sesh I was on the Mistral 95 + 6.6 TR7 + 27 vector speed weed. Got the peak speed and 3/5 10 second runs on this set-up. And the alpha . Finally got the gybing dialled on the 95, and I reckon if I'd persevered there were 24s for the taking, but I was keen for some speed.
After an hour or so on this combo I thought I'd have a crack at a naughty (normally I plug in the 90 XFire for the mile). She was a bit skatey in the chop, but I held it together until I hit the moguls at the top of the run. Hit a ramp, big involuntary chop hop, but I stuck the landing. The back end let go a tad however, and the inevitable rail trip followed...face plant = destroyed one panel of my beloved 6.6
Back to the beach for a sail change.
Slowy was heading out on his 41 wide / 7.0 combo, so I followed suit...
Rigged the SP47 + TR5 7.0 + 23 KA assy for the second half of the sesh.
Back into it with Slowy, Ports and Adam for company. Sailed til dusk on this set-up. Didn't improve the peak, but added a couple of nice 10 second runs (36.15 & 37.05) into the mix.
Great sesh. First time I've compared the Mistral 95 and SP47 back to back. I reckon the SP47 is good for a tad more top end when the breeze is solid, but there isn't much in it. Stoked to find my gybing mojo on the 95, I reckon there's some alpha goodness to be explored.
