Melville Beach, WA, AU

A short sail to test my leg, to see if my pulled hami was up to sailing again. So looking for a steady, lightish breeze, but got what we got; variable and gusty. Leg went well and pleased with 31 kts. Great to be on the water after a couple of weeks off.

RRD 80 with 5.8 Koncept and 28 technics fin.

Safety Bay, WA, AU Mistral 47, Koncept 5.8 then 4.9, 24 Elmo weedy

Challenging conditions. Rigged for the current wind when I arrived just after the front went over. Wind increased just before I went out and I thought about changing down but gave it a try on the 5.8.because I didn't have much time. Sailable but dangerous. Came in and thought about calling it a day because I had an afternoon tea appointment with the family and didn't have time to rerig. The local speed sailors also decided it was too dangerous and left for safer spots. Then the Pinnaroos arrived and talked me into canning afternoon tea and going out again. So after much deliberation I phoned the family, told them not to wait for me, rigged the 4.9 and ventured out again. Plenty of speed to be had but the high tide and swell made it hard work and dangerous. I got a 32.5 on the dial and decided to call it a day even though that was just shy of a PB. Disappointed in myself for not having my usual GO FOR IT attitude, but  wanted to go home uninjured. Something was telling me to be careful today. Upon arriving home I found out my workmate was not so judicous and ended up with a broken hand, so probably a good thing I was more cautious.

Great to catch up with Jake, Sean and Chris. Thanks for the team support guys!

Ooooh, just .06 knots short of a PB! Should have gone for another run. Anyway I consider it a very good time in those conditions.

Challenging sail at the beaver with some fellow Pinaroos and some SRMers. Hit the wall again today with this board with 15 x 36+knot runs but just not enough something? to push any further on a regular basis. Going to weight it tonight as it felt about 8kg coming out at the end and the first few runs were the fastest despite the wind picking up later. Disappointing and frustrating to be so powered up sail-wise and be held back by the board on nearly every run. Still nice to bag a couple of top 5s for 2sec and 5x so gotta be happy enough with that. Nice workout with a great crew today Cool Bring on more wind this week!

The beaver! Since when is it ever this windy on a Sunday? Great fun.

When I arrived I wasn't sure if I would be powered up on the 5.4, but it filled in nicely and the sail was great. Had to try out my new weight vest, so started off with just a couple of kilo given it looked a bit light. Had a few good gusts so went in and topped it up to 4.5kg. The leverage gave me an extra knot or so on my peak, but generally just made it much more comfortable in the gusts (except water starting which was a pain).

Good to weave through the mess of kites with a few others Anita, Jake, Sean, Chris A and Slowy.

Peel Inlet, WA, AU

NM mission with Norts - first attempt on the Isonic - 31.1 knots.

2nd go on the Mistral, huge gust so just kept going for over 2 miles with a 36.7 display peak.

Couldn't get a decent 2 sec - too much sail I think.

Isonic 86, Mistral 47, Hot Sails GPS 6.6, Vector DWS 27 and 21.

Spent the weekend down in Yallingup. The dearly beloved allowed a stop off at Bender Land. Rig, sail, de-rig time was one hour but had a lot of fun. Nicely powered on the KAOS 5.3m.

Congrats to all the PBers and Anita for a gutsy effort. JJ, that's some NM!

Point Walter (or as Snides so aptly calls it Pt Walturd Yell )

Had family commitments til 3, so unfortunately I couldn't make it down to the Beaver.

Decided for some unfathomable reason to visit Walturd, instead of Melville.

Looked windy when I arrived at 4, so rigged the M95 + 6.6 TR7 + 30 venom.  Spent an hour sailing underpowered shite on this set-up, or rather standing around waiting for gusts.  Changed up to the Mistral 112/38 Sting, but the breeze was fading fast, so this was just another layer of excrement on a big fat shit sandwich. Frown

Well done to all the PB-getters today, particularly JJ with a smoking mile at Hardies and Chris with a great 5 by. Cool

Well overpowered on the 4.7 but lead to some great high speed wave rides. Got out and back through the keyhole and almost got a couple of aerials on the inside section.

Avalon, WA, AU

Fun sail with a few of the crew on the way home from margs.

Hey Anita nice speed,

I found Mitch wollowing in the water after a big off checked on him and was looking a bit worried so help him swim his kit in before derigging and sending him on his way to charlie's luckily his mother was around to drive him to hospital.

I must agree his wrist looked a bit averageFrown

Haven't met Alistair.  Heaps of people were leaving as I arrived around 4pm so maybe I missed him.
We should make some sail stickers so it would be easy to spot the team members.  ?

It was a bit laumpy. Went accross only once, and decided it was not the best idea. I got a mile out of it though.

Great 2 sec Bono, hope the knee injury is just a scrape...

Glad to see you got a bit of a sail in Patrick. Sorry you missed out on a really good windy session.

Yoko, I WAS happy with the 32.52, that's why I stopped when I did. I thought "that's good enough". Interesting it was only realspeeded by .01! The 10 sec was 0ver 32 knots. It felt fast too.

Impressive effort Team, and still Scarrgo to post if not others. Nice boost up the table.

I'm still annoyed at myself for not going for more speed runs when there were better times to be scored. Not enough testosterone I guess!

Evets, Two things have made the difference. Some one on one coaching by lao on Boxing Day (when I finally cracked the 30) and the Mistral speed board. The only thing stopping me from going faster now is lack of courage. Thinking back about Sunday I think it's just that I'm not used to going that fast! (in chop especially) I think I need to get comfortable with it before I can go that next step.
