YEEEEEEEHAAAAAAAAASmileSmile

Awesome session at safety bay, tide was just about perfect down the outer bar so was reeling off successive 35knot runs, GPS display was 37.45 which is only 0.10 below PB but 2 sec peak and 5 by 10 PBs so am absolutely stoked, wind died just before the end of my session and did not come in properly until as i hit the water, almost rigged my 6.6 and sailed my iso 101 but held back luckySmile

JP slalom II 84, NP RSSLalom II 5.8 and a lessacher chamelion 24

look forward to more breezes like this one, combo felt so comfy at those speeds potential for more is there

Awesome session for the hour, wind was steady, water flat as..... Wind was about 12 to 20kts.  T!RS59 Gaastra vapor 6m, Leading Edge Decrepit Modified 27cm weed.  I'm buzzin, that was so good, didn't look at the gps once, just felt fast and consistent, a PB for me, so I'm pumped.  Congrats to Adam on his PB's, and welcome aboard Colin.

Strong SW when I arrived and forecast to get stronger, so rigged the 5.2, once out there wind swung to SSE and dropped a few knots, couldn't be bothered rerigging, so was a bit underpowered.

Good thing was, hands held up OK and I felt a lot more comfortable than yesterday.

Great session on Isonic 105, 6.5 raptor and JP36 weedy until my fin fell off! (Have i mentioned i love that Isonic?Embarassed)

Had felt/ heard fin hit rock about 30m south of the eastern 'reef' marker at Hardies and decided to look at fin next time I messed up a gybe ( was going fo an hour). Pulled off next 3 gybes! on 4th gybe (about 11 kms after the impact) suddenly back of board let go completely: no fin Yell. Looked around for a while and managed to find the fin ( on bottom in about 900mm of water. Smile At least I had not lost the fin... and no damage on fin. Screws had pulled through the metal plate in the fin box: easily repairable and using larger washers will not be a prb.

Now to get back: am 3000metres from launch site and wind dropping. Found that I could sail the Iso with foot in front of mast and bum dropped very close to water.

Was glad to see Elmo sail up to see if I needed help. He went back for a screw driver and I waded back for a while. I then gave up on that and went back to sailing. The Iso was rsurprisingly easy to sail on a beam reach but going further off the wind was a real struggle. Got back after 40 minutes.

Thanks Elmo for checking on me and the offer of help.

Apart from the fin incident I had a fantastic time. 6 out of 8 gybes worked well.

JP Slalom IV 104L, NP RS4 6.7m, Elmo Frankenfin 31.5cm(RIP), JP freeride Weed 36cm

I'm officialy over this, 3 sessions damage to just under $600 worth of fins, 2 fins beyond repair for what I want them for.

First run on way back found "Claudes Rock", it farks G10 as well as carbon, RIP Frankenfin.

Go back change fin, go out some dick decides to lurk near the cars, go back in take down his licence, go back out wind drops out. Need redemption steves still out so wait for a gust pump like crazy get it going sail out wide, get to the end of the run see Steve fannying around near the channel looks to be ok, head back, turn around no Steve wind easing, go back down looks to be in trouble, he is fin has pulled bolts through box, fin now residing in his pfd.

Head back with intentions of coming back with screwdriver and washers, unfortunately the wind has almost disappeared its a chug all the way back.

On the way back about 30-40m outside the far white post I duiscover there is a flat reef of limestone across the bottom which is conservitavely about 5 farken meters wide, you can immagine the loverly sound coming from the bottom of my board in the only area I managed to get on the plane, well farken impressed, at least this fin is recoverable.

Chug the rest of the way back, fortunately I didn't tread on any cobblers, would have hunted them down if I had.

So methunks, I've 2 loverly new wave boards sitting in the shed, my slalom board is a ripper on the ocean, I thunks it's time for a change

Heres what happens when you meet limestone

The LH fin was a 23cm 45º weedy, can hopefully recover it to about 20.5cm will donate to someone smaller. THe RH fin was todays effort is a 31.5cm 45º which was an absolute ball tearer on my 104L slalom board, but as the damage starts at around 24cm's it's not going to be to flash. Both fins used less than 6 times each.

Congrats to Adam, Col and Hards! nice work guys

Thanx snidesy, I'm pretty pumped  about it.  The conditions were southerlly, as flat as hardies gets, and 3 to 4 km runs parrallel to the shore, it was definitely PB conditions, Decrep will be spewing he didn't rig bigger, be interesting to see how he did, dunno what happened to Elmo?

Very Nice Hour Hardie

snides you can see where my jump off point was to do the run, i figure that the google earth pic is about two years old at least, the water down where i was running was about 40cm deep today with a bit of weed sticking up, producing some very flat conditions, probably not as flat as hardies on a great day but tide was at about 1m today according to seabreeze, best i have sailed it was a lower tide so bit shallower, I had the occasional fin bump that day

Hey Elmo, as I said those fins are fixable, I can easilly graft some more fiberglass on, will be very close to new. Main difference being, new material won't be as hard as G10.

Just drop them around.

Hey Elmo, I totalled my JP Weedy at shoemakers, Decrepit got sick of listening to the sound of me bawling my eyes out and finessed a new profile onto it... Honestly I can't tell that it's reshaped now, it goes like a rocket and you really can't tell that something's happened to it! He's a wizard that man.

Will be experimenting with panel beating them myself (could be messy)

Jet, I won't be going to Cervantes this year as work seems to have my attention at the moment.Embarassed

Looking forward to doing more blue water sailing in the interum, had enough(3 years solid) of the estuary at the moment, want to regain some open water skills.
