Had to work again so missed the morning session againFrown.  Arrived at 13.30 to hear Sam had already done 200 k's - he is a machine!!!  Managed to work up to where Sam was doing his reaches - approx 2.5 - 3km long and cruised with him for a while.  He was cranking on the fanatic 91 as usual and we had some great drag racing again.  Sailed with him till 7pm and found out he had done 400 k's - well done mateCool   Used Fanatic 89, 5.8m koncept and 31cm sl7.  Also great to see my dad back on the waterLaughingLaughing

Sam - On the water at 9am after 2 powerades.  Used the loft blade 6.2 - sail smooth and rock solid as usual.  Fanatic 91 ate up the chop as usual.  Sailed 200 k's by 13.30 - had a 24.7 knot moving avg - (WOW - SHOCKED) and went in for another couple of powerades.  Carl turned up and joined me after working in the morning for the next session.  He gave me a boost - couldn't have done it without you mate - thanks.  Sailed until 7pm and did 404 k's - overall sail moving average was 23 knots for whole day and took 9.5 hours - 9 - 7 with 1/2 hour break.  Wouldn't hurry to do it again.  People came sailed and went - it was lonely and didn't get to catch up with the usual crew.  Thanks again Carl for the support and sailing till the end with me.  Now i am having drinks with friends and are cramping up just picking up my drink.  15 - 20 knot southerly - boggy lake - fanatic 91, 6.2m loft blade and 31cm sl7.

Sam gave me the four tracks for the day to stitch up and here is some data on his hours.

5 best 3600 second (at least) average = 46.48km/h [25.10Knots]

3600 second run n°1 = 48.36km/h [26.11Knots] (48,358.2 m. in 3,600.000 s.)
3600 second run n°2 = 47.27km/h [25.52Knots] (47,265.8 m. in 3,600.000 s.)
3600 second run n°3 = 46.77km/h [25.26Knots] (46,774.5 m. in 3,600.000 s.)
3600 second run n°4 = 45.08km/h [24.34Knots] (45,082.5 m. in 3,600.000 s.)
3600 second run n°5 = 44.90km/h [24.24Knots] (44,901.1 m. in 3,600.000 s.)
3600 second run n°6 = 43.24km/h [23.35Knots] (43,242.3 m. in 3,600.000 s.)
3600 second run n°7 = 39.28km/h [21.21Knots] (39,284.4 m. in 3,600.000 s.)

Sensational effort!!!!! Surprised Great respect!!!!! Smile

Anyone who has had a good go at a one hour time will certainly appreciate the mind and body numbing prospect of doing 9 of them back to back with hardly a stop in between. I simply cannot imagine myself doing that. The last 10 minutes of my best 1 hour was already playing tricks with my mind, the gybes were getting shakier and shakier and the speed form was already deteriorating markedly!

I was just trying to psyche myself up for a 300km attempt over the summer. 400? forget it! Frown.

I will be there for you Kato when you go for your attempt though!!!

From the look of the tracks and the terrain, Boggy Lake looks like an ideal location for big distance attempts. Hang on a sec.... was that an ONSHORE wind? With chop? Bloody'ell!

You get big chop but if it has been blowing a while you can pick the troughs.  Don't forget the carp and fence posts.  Sam said he did not know if he was going to be able to do the 400 at the end as the wind was dying so he did the longer run to the right, he said the last half hour was the killer.

Sam definately has amazing focus and concentration and believe it on not has only been sailing since about late 2005 or so(I think.)

Absolutely agree, the prospect of trying to better Sam's effort is daunting.  Consistancy at that high level for that long is remarkable.  Well done.
