Nice cruise on big gear - Fanatic 111, 7.5m koncept and 37cm sl7.

Goolwa alpha channel - 8 - 13 knot - managed to catch a 18 knot gust to get the peak.

Crapola day at goolwa alpha channel.  Started out west - very broad and after yesterdays westerly it went south west at last.  It was only 8 - 13 knots and was very gusty.  Managed to get onto one gust and that was about it.  Wanted to go for the hour, alpha and nautical but the wind was very average.  Some of the other demons are at Sandy point - SHOULD HAVE GONE - hope to be on the next trip.  Sam did well on the big gear - he was cruising effortlessly.

Not working at the moment for a while some BRING ON SOME BIG WINDS....Laughing and a new job might be good for some money too.....

Fanatic 89, 09 ka koncept 6.6 and c3 venom 32.

Goolwa alpha channel - 8 - 13 sw.

Sandy Point

2009 iSW49 / 2009 Koncept 5.8 / C3 Strike 22

2009 iSW44 / 2009 Koncept 5.0 / C3 Strike 22

I've got a PB 5x10sec here, but to be honest I am a little disappointed at these numbers. I know I shouldn't be. I've done a 45+ 2 sec at Goolwa, and thought that Sandy Point would give me the distance to sustain that sort of peak for 10 seconds. It would.......if I had achieved that peak. Great day though. Good to see the PiT boys all firing, and I mean FIRING along! I think I need to grow another 2-3 inches taller and put on maybe 10-15kg to crank the numbers that I am after, but then you look at Daffy's incredible run, and that blows that theory. My drive home last night was good to consider what I could have done / can do next time to squeeze the numbers a little higher. Can't wait to get back there. Big day yesterday - up at 5am, on the beach by 6am, on the water by 7.30am, off by 3.30pm, on the road by 4.30pm, drive to Bordertown by 1am, sleep 5 hours in back of car, then home by 8.30am. All too easy. Must do it again soon. Good numbers to follow by fellow SASD's.

Made the trip over with Anthony to the pit for a crack at some pbs and had everything prepered for a good session EXCEPT being able to test the RSS evoIII before I got there.  Rigged it to the exact specs on the sail and it looked similar to the RSR but when I hit the water on my first run the draft was all over the place like a flogged out wave sail.  Came in and put on more downhaul which improved things but I was wasting the good early wind so I could not f*ck around all day.  In hindsight I should have let of the downhaul off to add more knuckle and move the draft forward.  A wasted opportunity as I wrestled the sail all day.  I was happy to beat my 5x10 as this gives me hope for when I get it sorted and can actually have a locked sail on the run.  I think I would have gone faster if it was stronger OR lighter as I have got my 5 and 6.7 RSR tweaked to perfection.  The big bonus was trying my new GoPro Wide angle camera (and seeing Anthony and Chris do well!), I am stoked with the footage and will edit a movie shortly.  I tried a head mount as well as on the boom looking back.  I will post it to my blog soon - www.whitelionwindsurfing.blogspot.com

CA44 - RSS Mk3 6.2 - Select Caspar 25

Great to catch up with everyone again, and meet some other sailors new to the sport.

At least you guys got a sail Chris it must have been gusty as the the numbers guys have been posting are all over the place from 44+ knot averages to 40knt.I think i will start eating moreSmile well done on your times and next big day i'll be there now that i have more brownie points, hanging to use my 4.6 on the sp40.

Hardie the Strike 22 is AWESOME. It was the first time I had sailed the Strike with 'serious conditions' and the first time also on the 09 Koncept 5.0m and the iSW44. Perhaps this can be my excuse for not having gone faster...nah, I don't think so. The fin was really good. So slippery yet so solid on the water. Gave me huge confidence at the end of the strip where the chop was maybe 150 - 200mm high. Hitting this at 43+ knots is interesting. Even got me back up wind OK, albeit a little sideways.

Choco it was gusty, and I notice Tony W's comments on the angle being critical as the wind was swinging. That is very true. Our peaks at Goolwa are always on the 'slingshot' and at Sandy yesterday I was really just hugging the curve of the bank and probably should have looked closer at the wind on the water and picked my angle better. I noticed Foxy doing little slingshots - it was reflected in his numbers.

Ahh....that's speedsailing. There's always something to learn.

I love it!

Although I didn't have the session I had hoped for I was happy with the footage I captured on my new camera. I had a play with helmet and boom mounts and have a lot more ideas on interesting angles.

Here is a quick low resolution edit of some of the footage on my blog site, hope you like it.
