That's terrible luck there Kimba, have you tried downloading the data logger using the NAVILink software?  Just be careful not to leave your GPS on overnight as it might overwrite your track file in the data logger...

Good luck getting it off, I can only imagine how devastating that must be.

Hi Nebbian, Yeah I have tried the NAVIlink software but the folder is empty.  I might have to check all of my gps settings as there are no options in the NAVI software I can find(V1.1)

if claytons is the sail you have when your not really having a sail then how do you guys pull off PB's when your not having a sail!

Marin, the iS86 is a superb board. My PB on this is 41.6knots with a KA Koncept 6.6 in less than ideal conditions. It is fast, planes early, is controllable at speed and gybes very well. It's the perfect slalom board that can become a speedboard when the conditions are right....or wrong.

Mr Stringer, as for splitting the team - we have only got 6 or 7 guys that are really posting the competitive numbers. That's not too many is it? You may think that our team is twice the size it should be, but then due to the drought, we are only sailing on half as much water as we should be - they cancel each other out, so we are on track with everyone else.

It appears that the WA teams have not had ideal conditions lately. We all know that when the wind is good for you guys, your numbers will show it. We've been lucky enough to have some N + NW action.......and a world class spot to sail in.

Thanks guys for the best wishes guys but I have come to the conclusion that satelite reception was the issue.  On the bits of track I do have(after I reset) the sats are down to 4 & 5 when normally they are 10 or so.

I have tried to import the data from the logger using GPSresults & navilink but come up with an invalid command line error. In the GPSresults import there was also a "Track-Start could not be found" message. Any Gurus have any idea about the command line error and if it is a software glitch or should I give up trying to salvage data that may not exist.

I can clone the data from the logger as a *.dat file but it took several attempts to get 100%  Can I get anything from this data independent of the GPS?  I have obviously tried saving the data to the sd card but this is when I only get 217 pts, I was wondering if data may not be copied accross if it is a minimum number of sats are not present.  I might post this on the GPS forum for additional help.

Kimba, i had a problem with a GT-11 a year or so back. Some of the symptoms were similar - what rang a bell in my mind was your mention of it only picking up a few sats. In my case it was also taking a very long time to fix to sats and I was finding only small portions of a session being logged. I eventually worked out (with the help of Tom Chalko) that it was a reception problem due to moisture in the unit. Tom's suggested cure was to leave it somewhere dry over night with the SD card out and the flap open. In my case somewhere dry  was easy to find as it was summer time when it happened! - may be a little more problematic at present for you. This unit has not missed a beat since (though it gets irregular use now that I have a GT-31). This solution wont help your current situation, but could help you going forward.

Well done guys.  Happy Birthday Kimba.  Seen as though you are heading towards 40 - just put your nautical mile as 40 knots - no one will mind - will they????.  There is a chinese whisper that another pb may have been achieved.  As choco said "check this site tomorrow night....

Chris, that is a great speed, specially with 6.6. Do you remember what was the wind strenght? Which fins you use with IS86, smallest, biggest?I have found that original Drake 34 is pretty decent for medium winds. It holds very good throuh the chop and doesn't spin out much.

I have also tried MFC 30 cm, but haven't found it particullary quick, and it looks like it is more prone to spin out, maybe beacuse it is much shorter, I don't know..
