Chris Dimond (5865km): 2009 iSW49 / 2009 5.8 Koncept / 2009 C3 Venom 24 - Clayton Channel. Wasn't planning on sailing today, but a quick check of the Hindmarsh Island weather station online this morning told me NNW 37 knots. Hook up trailer and race down there. Weather station gusted to 42 knots NNW when I first hit the water. It was nuts. Wind was swinging alot between NW + NNW and had some large holes. Only a couple of runs let me hook up enough gusts for a NM attempt. Nice to sail with Dave + Sam. Hopefully Sam has nailed his alphas to help us out (or even Dave for that matter ). Big rolling chop down the course due to the swinging wind made the NM runs entertaining. More wind forecast tomorrow...
Choco (9631km): Manta 67-select 37cm Proto Blade 6.2m 10-20knts Lake Bonney Great to get back out on the water after about 3 weeks of no sailing tested my modified Blade 6.2m and my custom SBS battens and WOW! they worked great didn't go for any speed runs just out testing the sail and regaining some sailing fitness never dropped a jibe all day
Sam Doecke (16626km): f2 xs missile, 6.2m loft blade and 24cm c3 venom - changed to fanatic 91, 31cm sl7 and 6.2m loft blade for some alphas and cruising. Holey 15 - 25 knots - n - n/w - clayton channel - hanging for a solid day - maybe tomorrow?????
Dave M (3481km): After 6 attempts.. my first sail in the Clayton Channel, warm (17c), sunny and windy, it don't get much better !! Lorch S83, KA Koncept 5.8, C3 Venom 26 Second time on the Venom and it's a top fin, thanks for the tip Chris. First time with the 5.8 on the Lorch 83, never really settled, tried lots of different settings but it did not seem to "take off". Never found the gust that held all the way down the course. Two big offs in the rolling chop down the end of the course. first sail in over a Month and great to get out but not up to the day, there was a lot more speed to be had if you were good enough. Great to watch Chris and Sam making the most of the conditions water was higher than it has been of late, another 30cm and it could be the end of the strip !!!!!!! Control/Dam walls are well on the way ! http://www.seabreeze.com.au/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=53196 |
