Great days sailing, F2 Missile S  Vapor 6m Weed 22cm  Hardies was a bit choppy, and weed clumps just under the surface had 2 stacks, so backed off and didn't go for long runs.  Very dangerous atm.  Elmo just busted the nose of his brand new board.  Be careful if you come down V. Dangerous atm!!!!

JP Speed 54, NP RSS 5.8m, F'ken Elmo superspinout F'ken weedy 24cm

Got down there it was quite junky, Hardz gave us the heads up as to what it was like so was a bot aprehensive before I hit the waterKiss

First run cavitation after cavitation, (the other runs didn't improve either) this fin is just not working on this board.

Fannied around with the setting mast foot forward mast foot back all seemed to help (go figure) almost came in waited in shallows and another big gust came in got a few more good runs, more fin recovery practise.

Last run took of on a gust ,cavitated, got bounced out of the harness got it all back together decided to flag the run pointed the board up wind (F'ken fin would spin pushing hard up wind) next thing Whoompa hooked in slam with instant stop, had a nice laydown on the sail whist I got my facalties together, started checking my kit, boom had come loose, checked the board oo no damage, closer look, oh bugger mast chop dead center with a small crack, flipped the board over and Oh sheet 6-8" crack on the underside, Bugger Bum Blast Drat, time to go home with my red fury tail between my legs.Cry

New board to me this time F2 sx small about 2006 or 07 not sure, so a session getting used to the board . Very windy and lots of weed used 5.8 tushie X15 might use a wave sail with this board next time so I can get more familiar with the board. Can see lots of potential once I have got it dialed in

Not sure what happened to the hour, the GPS was on most of the day, so even though I didn't have any hour long sessions, I'd have thought, I'd get some number larger than 0. Might have to boot up windoze and see what realspeed says.

Had a fun day, with a good turn out.

Tried the new speed board early with ado's repaired speed fin. The fin feels great, but my feet are still too high, going to have to perform some surgery and slice some holes for my feet.

Then used the old speed board and the 5.2 X15, started out with the 25cm 40 deg sym, then changed to good old faithful 19.5 asy, just as I was tiring out, the wind picked up, that's when I started to get some good numbers, wish I could have kept going longer.

Very impressed with Ado, he was out in the middle going for distance, not very pleasant sailing out there! But then inside had some horrible invisible weed islands, think all of us got some nasty catapults, when hitting them.

Edit, just noticed my total distance, and I'm a bit uneasy, 666km to 10,000, I should have stayed out a bit longer.

Not that I'm superstitious or anything.

Edit 2, 20/11/09, just checked with realspeed and I do indeed have an hour number, not good but it's there, also taken the extra 4km doppler distance gives me. That gets rid of the tripple 6 thing. Smile

All other numbers are the same.

Well I was the first to find out how dangerous it was, fortunately made the NM without incident but crashed twice on the way back, due to the weed stopping the board dead. I didn't try it again!!! Especially when hardy said he'd also had 2 nasty incidents.

Matt was warned, so full respect to him.

Geez Hardie, Maybe you should go on holidays again. Some people have to sacrifice for others. I hope to be on the water after the new year. Lost all track of time out here. Quiting time could be on the cards soooner than later. Good to see everyone getting on the water.
