The once a year Work families social function is on tonight so had to sail early and local, how did they know today was going to be the best day of the summer so far GRRR

Hit Safety Bay, tide was too low for running the weed bank so just blasted into the corner, pretty happy with the 2 sec peak, got 3 in the 38s which is a PB for Safety bay

getting a clean run at the end was becoming difficult with the number of freeriders running different angles and the 4 kiters that were there being 2 chicken to run more than about 50 meters past the corner of the sand spit

Got a whopping spike on one of the GPS that took me to a point just off Buenos Aires over the top of Antarctica

CA SP50 NP RS Slalom II 5.8, FO 23cm weedy

WEnt for hour early and wind was patchy and barely on the plane at times, then last 20 mins filled in but too stuffed with big gear, hopefully will go out for a speed session late arvo?

Second session, Missile S Gaastra Vapor 5.5m Choco weed 24cm very wind gusting to around 30kts, but water too choppy for someone of my ability, The SRM were killing it out there, wont steal there thunder, but proved why they are No.1!!!!!!!!!!

Last hoorah before I return to work next week so went out to make a day of it, wanted to rack up some distance (and hopefully burn of some spare tire) and also try and put together a full hour.

Well I made 3 attempts on an hour, the first I broke a harness line, second I got caught in some masive holes (3-5 mins of chugging) the last attempt was on the smaller slalom board with a smaller sail.

This was the first hit out on this board so didn't know how it would go, well no problems with holes this time, sailed over to Claudesville and upwind to the cox bay sand bar, at this stage it's starting to get a weeeeeeeeeee bit breezey the chop is aproaching waste high and very very very junky, decided at Cox bay that there was a huge potential for a Muppett arse whoopin the wind picked up some more so I started my first 7km downwind run, OMFG I was overpowered, jumping hanging on for grim death and the whole time absolutely crappin my dacks, finally made it back over to Claudesville only to have to do it all again to get back to base, when I eventually got back down the channel I got of and just slumped over the gear absolutely tin fruited.

It's been a hell of a long time since I have been that overpowered and outside of my abilitiesSurprised, that said the board was brilliant, kinda doing what I wanted it to (it went where I pointed it handled the chop and didn't try to kill me)Cool

The final part of the session was with the speed board, hmmm still plenty of power, hmmmmm still some snot in some inconvenient places, had some fun til I did jumps going into 2 consecutive runs, with my arms and legs shot I flaged it before I got my freckle handed to meEmbarassed

Still it was a great days sailingCoolCoolCool

PD and JN did some very special numbersCoolCoolCoolCoolCoolCool

Didn't feel on form today, my excuse was the long wave sail yesterday.

Went for alphas and 2sec, but chose the fin more for the alphas, used my 23cm 35deg sym. Picked up a lot of weed, would have been better off just going for speed with the 19.5 45 deg asy.

Had a go with my 4.7 wave sail to see how that goes. was fast acroos the wind, but couldn't get enough stable draft to be good downwind. Did n't seem that much easier to gybe, so didn't improve alphas either.

HARDIES SSW 25-28knts fairlyu rough

F2 Missile,rss mk2 5.4m, 30cm bentonic speed weed

long day. Left house at 7am. Drive to South beach for the slalom races.

The racing was rerally tough as it was close to 25knts+. Rigged the 5.4 and the SX63. Did ok in round one and made the final. Finished around 5 or 6th in the 1st round.

Bailed as it was not much fun, rocked uopp at hardies and it was still blowing hard. Watched 25 smoke down thw run and got excited.

i wanted to try for a 5x10PB. Very happy but its frustrating as i seem stuck inthe 37's.

Elmo i need 26weedy you are reboxing for me.

hmmm

Never felt comfortable but good to sail in rough and windy conditions: I think it is the only way foe me to ever get better at those conditions!

Ca52SL RS4 5.0 Benetic 26 weedy then JP31 weedy to try to get some stability off the wind.

Several times ran into weed which stopped me (fortunately not instantly)

31 weedy also grounded on the outer sandbanks.

cograts to all who went well out there. I was glad to sail in what for me were challenging conditions, never did the kit justiceEmbarassed. Just looked at the NP website and the unomfortable sail i probably partly due to rigging it on the wrong mast (X3 is all I have access to at present: thanks Elmo cos without that I could not sail at allSmile). Now I have the luff and boom lengths I shall experiment and as soon as poss get an X6 (hope that does it as I cannot afford an X9)

i had hurt my lower back Wednesday and was pleased to be able to sail at all todaySmile I did not risk trying to gybe as I did not wnat to hurt my back. No, honestly that is the reason Embarassed

Well it wasn't to be my day, suffered from big blouse nanna-ism syndrome!coundn't get it together for the first hour spent more time on the beach trying to get my gear to feel comfy struggled only mannaging at first in the low 30's nothing felt right couldn't bear off the wind without constant threats of being thown off, then came in and re-rigged with my big boom down from the wave boom ,then went out and started to get comfy had some loovely runs down the Melville sandbar thought all was goin swell then looked down to check my times-no gps ahhh shiiiit!I'd left it on the beach.after coming in to get it it was goneCryonly to find it later next to a mates gear,he'd seen it lying on the ground an put it with his gear, thankfully, finally got back out but was too knackered by then to give it a good go,2 sec was spent sheeted out with strength failing too quickly so called it a dayUndecidedbefore nasty things might happen ie busting me up.A BIG WELL DONE to all those out getting pb's-great effort!!
