Nice session out here in the ocean with Yoyo, Dot and Mark, plus a couple of desperate wavesailors catching ankle to knee high waves about every 10th run.

Sound like Elmo and hardie had a bit more wind, I didn't feel anything as strong as 20kt.

59 Thommen, 6.0 lightning. Addo 23 slowy speed fin, this is a nice combo for downwind, wasn't too bad up wind today either.

Fogey Wars III...The battle continuesCool

Calling this one a tie.

3 Nights in a row of awesome sailing CoolCoolCoolCoolCoolCoolCool Houston we have woodEmbarassed, can'r believe we have had so much sailing this time of year.

Spent the session once again playing around with settings, went exploring how far I could push the mast base back, got within 10mm of the entry to the box.

Whole lot of fun on a reasonabley consistant breeze got to chased down Hardz onceCool, thankfully he didn't realize I was there so he was't tryingCool he must have been sorry for the arse whooping he gave me yesterday cause he gumbied that gybeSurprised, he also did a nice high speed depth check coming back to shoreSurprised he makes quite a large dent.

Great fun, but I can honestly say after 3 days I'm quite happy that we have the junk collection next week so I got to cart crap from the back of the shed this weekendWink

Bender Finally got out tonight, I will never complain about the hazards of Mandurah again (well at least untill the next timeWink) Have a read of his post  it'll make you clench once or twiceSurprised

Quick fter work sesh at the Back Beach. Nice powered up in the bumpy stuff. I was enjoying washing the working week form hell off.

As i was saling towards the sunset about 2km's out i noticed the biggest fin (shark) i have ever seenSurprised. it was close to knee high. I Sailed on for about a minute and jibed(planning exit mind you). I saw the fin again on my way in. i was not too worried as i was cruising at about 22knts so it would have  to catch me first. Did a couple of more runs and called it quits as i had dinner at the inlaws.

A good way to add some excitment to just a quick after work blastCool

Bender, you do know how fast sharks can swim don't you???????

 

I just googled it and came up with this.

 

Laboratory measurements of numerous kinds of fishes — representing a wide range of body sizes — swimming against an artificial current have revealed a surprisingly uniform maximum burst speed of about 10 times the body length per second. Thus, for an average-sized, 6.5-foot (2-metre) Shortfin, its theoretical maximum speed might be something on the order of 45 miles (72 kilometres) per hour. Yet some estimates of the top-speed of a Shortfin Mako are considerably higher.

 

So don't feel confident just cause you're doing 22kt!!!!!!

40 cm is around "close to knee high" size, I reckon you two would be pretty evenly matched Laughing

I haven't seen a shark cruising at 22 knots, imagine what he was thinking, "Geez I heard this thing just bashing over the water really fast, it was coming towards me, soon it came really close and the fin on it was as big as mine!  No way I'd catch it if that's it's cruising speed!"

I wouldn't want to fall in though.
