A day at Inverloch with the Southerly Busters. I ended up waiting till Area 45 after the long board start at the inlet. Thanks to the Inverloch Windsurfing Club the the event and the BBQ. Wicket loved her hamburger and so the the grass at home.  Surprised

The day was very gusty and the tide never really went out. I went out with the Bump-Jump/Wave kit. The Kode really is hard to push against the fin when there is no real volume height in the tail. Still was good to get some little jumps. I also found it hard to find any real flat water, but JAK must have. The day goes to JAK for his results, even on my old wave board. Also it was Adam first trip to Area 45, plus he picked up a van only yesterday. Will have to get Adam a GPS and get him to join the group too.

Great turnout at the angling club. For a while there I didn't think I'd get out as the wind went from 12-30 knots on and off constantly and changing from NW to SW just as often. But it all came good after lunch and a visit to "45" with winds from 15-25 knots and only the occasional 30+ knot squall coming through. Decided however I need to practice my gybing skills in chop a little more..... think I made maybe one the whole afternoon.

Area 45

20 - 30 kts

Better speed than last time so that is an improvement!

The 23.75 kts felt good and in control and getting into both straps is starting to happen.  Spin out is still an issue.  Others suggesting board is to big for the conditions as tail walking a fair bit.  When I could lock it down it felt great.

Great Sunday at Inverloch. Longboard meeting at Angler's club in the morning, (thank you guys from IWC for organising, BBQ was great and hit the spot for what followed). Didn't take my old ship though, well next time. Too much west and shortish runs at the Angler's club so we decided to move to Area45 after lunch. Arrived in nearly 40 knots there (the car was rocking) but it calmed down a little short after. Many of the Southerly Busters were there and Adam from Bono. Rigged up a 5.7 and as it calmed even further a 6.2 (which I didn't use in the end). Very gusty and the sandbar was not really fully exposed. So quite a bit of chop which made it hard to clock some good numbers. Still managed a couple of good runs, including a reasonable one wringing the neck of Stephen's old Torquay 82 L wave board (it really grows on me).

(Not so happy that Real Speed reduced my fastest run from 31.82 to 31.49 Cry, plus I had a dodgy best Alpha so I posted the second fastest).

Had my helmet camera on most of the time and I think covered some good footage (watch this space for Youtube links)

LOCATION: AREA 45

SAILORS:  JAK, EJ, OLD SALTY, WINDRIDER AND 2 PIT CREW BLOWINS- KATO AND JOHN

WIND:  W- 30 kts

GEAR:  JP Excite 135, 38 fin, NP Expression 5.2

DESCRIPTION:  Only gt a short session in after running the longboard day.  Couldn't really get it together.  Didn't master the chop too well and the board felt a bit out of shape and I reckon I may have even been overpowered a few times- on a 5.2!

Still.it was great to see a good Busters turn out!

Doug, saw you flying towards me on a few runs and you looked totally comfortable and in control.

Well done on the speeds JAK. I think for a west wind Area 45 seems to be the better spot. I still like Mount Martha for jumping. Great to have 2 options.

Well the banana board is very good for jumps. See below at Bono a few years back.
