Sunny, windy and brutally choppy. Laughing

LB7,S100,GW32 followed by warp 5.7, Lorch(thanks Pointman), KA23, Bandit 30.

Impressed with the float of the Lorch. Too choppy for the 23 leading to some interesting spin outs, 30 pointer calmed it down but no faster (peak) than the sonic.

3 best 10 sec were one with each set up and nothing between them. Just shows water state to be the great leveller.

Second outing at Wallyworld with a good team presence, Snake, Scarrgo and Pointman. Some good gusts.

Been a long time since we had a good session on the bar.

Took a while to get the Lorch dialled in.

Melville Beach, WA, AU and point walter

spent the whole morning at uni staring out the window, finally got away and after a trip home to get the gear got down to melvile, snake was there and slowy showed up after an epic downwinder from pt walter on the NW'er rigged the little gear and pilled on the wetsuits and weights (which in total come to somewhere between 12 and 15 kg thanks to 2.5L camel pack 3.5 kg of lead , two wetsuits, couple of thermals, life jacket, harness, spray jacket and rashy) got on the water to find as expected was very wind and very choppy was nackered within a few runs in those conditions so went in after i waited out the biggest squall then the wind swung WSW and slowy snake and i were going to try to get to point walter i got to the back before i decided that at the time it would be to hard in the middle to get there snake got half way there before he was smashed by the conditions and slowy made it Embarassed

but after things calmed down a bit snake and i snuck up to point walter along the Attidale shore

got to point walter to find it also pretty choppy but was possible to get runs at either end of the bar

massive squals coming through though with little time to accelerate i got one good feeling run going in early on and turns out it was a very good oneLaughing

snake had a close call then some alright bail outs Tongue out

in the end i did alot of swimming, slogging, uphauling and walking to get back to melville where the wind had completly dropped off Yell

was well and truly dark by the tim i was back at the car park

snake showed up just as i was leaving, as slowy put it "the drive of shame" Tongue out

all in all pretty nice sesh

5.0 koncept,76 isonic, 30 jp sl

new boom didn't let me down but didn't crash so not fully tested yet, not planning on crashing at that speed though so it's perfect Wink

the 30cm turns out has alot more speed potential than i thought probs just control so could push it harder

Wild and windy day out with a bunch of crew. Melville for a while and then Pt Walter for the remainder. Was overdone and then some today, no matter what I tried just could not get the power down, had a few tailwalks at 32knots and a big bail with 36.8 on the dial, just too much wind for my weight class today. I reckon some of those gusts were 40knots out there today and after a while my forarms were stuffed!! Got lifted clean out of the water on my first attempt at wallyworld, been a while since that happened. Had a great little swim in to finish it off too, Thanks again Chris for the lift back.

Thrills and spills a plenty at Wallyworld this arvo!

Late sesh after the breeze swung SW.  Got down to Melville round 3.30 and it looked pretty ugly, so I followed Trouty up to Wallyword.

Couldn't decide between the 6.6 and 5.8, so I rigged both.  Ended up choosing the 6.6 and tied the 5.8 to a signpost.

90 XFire + 32 Goldwing.

First sesh on the new board and very happy with the result.

I was overpowered and over-finned in some of the gusts, but they were brutal (30K+), so no surprises there.  Only really caught one solid gust, bearing away toward the jetty on starboard tack, for a 36.2 on the screen.  There was more to come, but I chickened out and rounded up early Embarassed

Got nailed by some huge bullets, but just couldn't hold down the power.

Still a great sesh and loved the feel of the new board. Cool

Good team turnout.  Well done on the PB Sean and props to you and the Snake for sailing up from Melville in the midst of a insane squall.

That was a lot of fun.

It was (is) so hard to hear that wind howling and not go for a sail, but I'm still tired and sore after Saturday. It wouldn't be wise. So I keep telling myself. Glad you enjoyed it, Mark.

Hardie, I can recommend FESS nasal spray post sailing to stop infection, or to clear up  an infection once it starts.

Ray Gun, nice to put the face to the (nick) name. S far I met 4 Wannabees.

The wind died a bit after the rain, and I was thinking 6m, but it soon picked up, worked well for a while, and was blowing really hard when I left. The "F2" Steve was the only one left on the water.

I'm stll learning to handle small gear, and must say, it's so much easier to deal with.
A smaller board is required...If you know anyone selling a Kode around a 100L  for a reasonable price...

Anita, 5.2m Ezzy - a great strong sail with the "stainless steel" mesh Cool

My 6m is repaired with a meshed panel too.

Great work Pinnaroos! Equal second with SRM!

34.51 Sean,Surprised that's huge! Well done! That one on one tuition with cap'n Lao is obviously paying off.

Jake, if it was too much for your weight class today it is a good thing I stayed home! I might have been masquerading as a kite!

Obelix, since I've just acquired a 90 XFire my 93 S-Type (which is actually 99L) will probably have to go.

It's a great board and still in pretty good nick.  You're welcome to demo.

Troutty and I discussed your stupid idea to sail home by yourself with dark falling. Not a good idea, ScarrgoYell

We were not looking forward to a headlight search like we did for the Slow one a while back! Consider yourself chastised!

You also encouraged the Snake to try and follow half an hour later. He paid his pennance with a good swim!

Be safe guys!

On a good note, top effort team. Been a while since we have had a set of numbers like that on the boardCool

Big PB increase, Scarrgo! 35 just around the corner.

Snake, time to get a weight jacket. It will make all the difference on days like today. Still got me on the 5x!

Now who is up for a mile run?

Go Pinnaroos!Laughing

Congrats Sean.

But I am with Laoshi- with the recent "nuclear" conditions, hospitalisations and our desire to crack a pb we should show some caution:

take care cos:

  • Enthusiasm easily overides skill !
  • Injury comes faster than posting a pb on the web.

Looking out for each other is important. - Sail with a buddy and have a plan!

was ment to be sailing back with jake obi and we both stayed too late at point walter i made it back jake had done alot more k's with some big crashes and didn't quite get so far. but the problem with getting back was far from nuclear conditions, was pumping to get on the plane when i could was slogging alot of it so was worried about not so much crashing but sitting in the water in the dark in the middle of the river, anyway i learnt my lesson, i realised it was stupid long before i got back to melville and i won't do it again Innocent so i'm sorry for putting the pressure on the guys i left up at walter wondering if i would make it

got a weed fin for the 49er? Wink good effort the other day. that was honking wind on the way over from Melville. glad you made it back without the swim-in-the-dark-of-shame.

scarrgo

WA
Australia

yeh you probably picked up the second biggest problem there with sailing at woodmans point on a 49er other than the depth if you capsize (masts bouncing along the bottom arn't good) it is very tricky to get weed off the blades, you have to stop head to wind stand in middle of boat and try to balance the boat as the crew quickly yankes up the centre board and drops it back down before you get too unstable, and thats only the centre board the rudder is way harder, and both are impossible to do in a race except for in light winds downwind you can do the centre board

anyway the gusts that came through at point walter the other day were pretty good, you know it's fresh when snake comes up to you and says he can't put the power down on his 5.4 Surprised, amazing though the difference of probably 7 extra kg's on top of my normal sailing weight makes
