lao shi (27489km): Sunny, windy and brutally choppy. LB7,S100,GW32 followed by warp 5.7, Lorch(thanks Pointman), KA23, Bandit 30. Impressed with the float of the Lorch. Too choppy for the 23 leading to some interesting spin outs, 30 pointer calmed it down but no faster (peak) than the sonic. 3 best 10 sec were one with each set up and nothing between them. Just shows water state to be the great leveller.
Second outing at Wallyworld with a good team presence, Snake, Scarrgo and Pointman. Some good gusts. Been a long time since we had a good session on the bar. Took a while to get the Lorch dialled in. Warp 5.7, Lorch Division S, KA23
scarrgo (6801km): Melville Beach, WA, AU and point walter spent the whole morning at uni staring out the window, finally got away and after a trip home to get the gear got down to melvile, snake was there and slowy showed up after an epic downwinder from pt walter on the NW'er rigged the little gear and pilled on the wetsuits and weights (which in total come to somewhere between 12 and 15 kg thanks to 2.5L camel pack 3.5 kg of lead , two wetsuits, couple of thermals, life jacket, harness, spray jacket and rashy) got on the water to find as expected was very wind and very choppy was nackered within a few runs in those conditions so went in after i waited out the biggest squall then the wind swung WSW and slowy snake and i were going to try to get to point walter i got to the back before i decided that at the time it would be to hard in the middle to get there snake got half way there before he was smashed by the conditions and slowy made it but after things calmed down a bit snake and i snuck up to point walter along the Attidale shore got to point walter to find it also pretty choppy but was possible to get runs at either end of the bar massive squals coming through though with little time to accelerate i got one good feeling run going in early on and turns out it was a very good one snake had a close call then some alright bail outs in the end i did alot of swimming, slogging, uphauling and walking to get back to melville where the wind had completly dropped off was well and truly dark by the tim i was back at the car park snake showed up just as i was leaving, as slowy put it "the drive of shame" all in all pretty nice sesh 5.0 koncept,76 isonic, 30 jp sl new boom didn't let me down but didn't crash so not fully tested yet, not planning on crashing at that speed though so it's perfect the 30cm turns out has alot more speed potential than i thought probs just control so could push it harder
Snake (13281km): Wild and windy day out with a bunch of crew. Melville for a while and then Pt Walter for the remainder. Was overdone and then some today, no matter what I tried just could not get the power down, had a few tailwalks at 32knots and a big bail with 36.8 on the dial, just too much wind for my weight class today. I reckon some of those gusts were 40knots out there today and after a while my forarms were stuffed!! Got lifted clean out of the water on my first attempt at wallyworld, been a while since that happened. Had a great little swim in to finish it off too, Thanks again Chris for the lift back. Pointman (8480km): Thrills and spills a plenty at Wallyworld this arvo! Late sesh after the breeze swung SW. Got down to Melville round 3.30 and it looked pretty ugly, so I followed Trouty up to Wallyword. Couldn't decide between the 6.6 and 5.8, so I rigged both. Ended up choosing the 6.6 and tied the 5.8 to a signpost. 90 XFire + 32 Goldwing. First sesh on the new board and very happy with the result. I was overpowered and over-finned in some of the gusts, but they were brutal (30K+), so no surprises there. Only really caught one solid gust, bearing away toward the jetty on starboard tack, for a 36.2 on the screen. There was more to come, but I chickened out and rounded up early Got nailed by some huge bullets, but just couldn't hold down the power. Still a great sesh and loved the feel of the new board. Good team turnout. Well done on the PB Sean and props to you and the Snake for sailing up from Melville in the midst of a insane squall. That was a lot of fun.
