evets (10573km): Royals W52 RSSII 5.4 30 Talon. fun session, stayed in shallow water as I was on my own. think I missed the best of the wind, fastest run was within a few mins of arriving GAF, overpowered at time but mainly underpowered. Had a ball despite the gradually reducing wind. 11.9 degrees whjen I packed up but did not feel cold until getting changed. Will be a great spot in good conditions.
Decrepit (22059km): Mission today was distance, hr and NM. What a laugh! looked great when I arrived at GH, Bendy had just clocked 35 with a 34 10s on his NM attempt, he was on his 6.2 said he'd be fine on his 5.0. So I rigged the 4.7 on the 48 with the 23 lockwood. Getting upwind to the NM launch spot was hard work, wind up and down all over the place, same with the NM, fell i8n too many holes, only a 25.7. We came in and had lunch, wind went ballistic, made it an extra long lunch! Looked to have eased a bit so we went back out, I had the rig blown out of my hands, hadn't dropped that much! Got rig back under control and wind switched, "snap" just like that. So we went for NMs in the opposite direction, did marginaly better, but still found a couple of big holes. Ended up 4km from base wind dying, so Ben says, "better get back before it drops right off" so we head off right into a squall, big battle to just stay on the board! We're just about back when wind eases a fraction, and Ben's found a flatish spot, so we have a couple of runs, I get airborne at 32kts, and manage to turn the landing into a rail slide, but I'm not keen to try and match Bender's 36! Not quite flat enough for my abillity. Sorry my NM isn't better Bender, but we should improve things a bit when you post.
Hey Steve, nice speed, glad you didn't feel the cold too bad.
Bender (19030km): Glory Holes, Australind, WA, AU F2 SX xs, RSR EvoII 6.2m, 27bender custom speed Today was unreal. I hit ther water bout half 9 and got my NM on my first attempt and then got a 30knt as back up. i came in and Decrep arrived. We had a short blast and it was lunch time. Now the wind really filled in to 35knts+ for a good hr. After lookiing at it for too long we went out in the now super choppy conditions. The 6.2m handled ok in thhe lulls. After another NM attempt it dropped out so we headed back to pack up. halfway back up wind it filled in to 30knts+ again. The 6.2m was near impossible to sail. i finally made it back. There was short patch of semi smoothness (well shin high rolling chop looks smooth after knee high breaking waves). i tried another speed run in the suicide conditions and got my peak. it was no way comfy as there was never much of the board or fin in the water. Very happy to get a 36 on the dial and even happier my home made fin is rock solid in crazy considions.
I saw Mike get his peak early. it looked really smooth as he fled past the rigging area |
