The first reasonable day we have had for months! Not quite up to the standard we have have come to expect for Speed Fortnight but a few 40 knots peaks were seen.

Quite a good turnout today as well.

Started on 5.0 Koncept and CA40 but quickly swapped to IS87 slalom when I failed to top 35 knots. Went to a 1 hour and was half way through a reasonable one when I big black cloud come over and the wind picked up substantially. Bugger! Have to abort the 1HR and get back on the speed board. Jumped on the CA40 again and pulled a few 37's and 38's. eventually a 39 but the 40 eluded me.  It's been a while since we had any sort of speed conditions so I was actually quite excited that I might have cracked a 38 average!

Went back and started another 1 hr and just as I finished another bigger black cloud approached and the guys were all lining up in anticipation, so I grabbed the speed board again and followed them down to finally crack a 40 peak (just) to make sure of the 38+ average!

Looks like we might have a bit more fun in the next few days.

Bit more fine tuning required, first time out on virgin starboard w49 and overdrive 5.4 well underdone but need to get used to setup when more wind is on. Rig and board felt great though, would like to have stayed longer as it got better later. 500km back home and back to the grind early in the morning. Great watching the rest of the team and how easy they make it look, can only learn from what they know. Still a lot lot to learn but good fun anyway.

I have done bugger all speed sailing this year, infact this was my second trip down.   Not lots of wind, very up and down and quite square most of the time, so used the Love Mus medium with a 28 cm Slalom fin in it and the Pre Production 2012 6.3 KA Race.  Was doing highish 30;s pretty much until one squall came through at maybe 30 knots. Took off behind Spotty who was on a 7.1 KA Race and his CA 44 ( had been on my Cheeky Monkey 112 most of the day but grabbed his Carbon Art for this run)  He smoked down the run, couldn't get near him as I tail walked the whole way down with the upright slalom fin ( why didn't I grab the small luv Muss that was sitting on the beach with a speed fin in it?????)  Still pulled into the bank with a 40 on the dial so happy ( apart from the fact it would have been way faster on the other board)

Fun day and good to se a few crew and great that the Interstaters got a good day in.  A few PB,s were broken which is always fantastic.

Great morning and crap arvo. Had a blast sailing on the high tide chasing swell lines and NM,s with the 52 and the Ka 5.7 only to have the downhaul let go while sailing up wind to get on the only good squal of the day. Spent the whole time on the east bank rerigging the sail

First session back on a speed board, albeit a different board, since injuring myself badly. Tentative at first but gradually got settled. Probably needed a bigger sail size. Would have been nice to improve the 2sec a bit but in the one good blast I took off in Martin's wake and bounced a bit much down the run. A fairly good turnout at the Pit and some good PBs for some - well done Dan and Luca! Great to catch up with the two NSW guys who made the trip down - Sick-em and Larko. Hopefully more good wind for you all today and tomorrow. Unfortunately I had to scoot back to the city to attend to some chores.

F2 Missile XS with KA20 Assy and KA Koncept 5m and CA SL 55 with Lessacher 28cm weedie. The Missile felt great!
