Snides (18313km): Pelican Point, WA, AU easterly sail a little over done in the 20kn+ on the xfire 122/evo2 7.8 sting 46 then talon 40 one of my last sails for a while. | ||||||||||||||||||
Recycle (10709km): woke at 5am to stuff blowing around the house so high tailed it to Point Walter rigged 7.8 and ca70 had the river to myself until wind started to die about 7.30.packed up and set of home happy.Had a couple of coffees and some breaky and started feeling edgy as the wind was back in and stronger than before, said to myself "you have had agood sail get on with the rest of your day"mopped around for another 10 minutes and got told I was bad company ,back to the river and had a ball chasing slowy around for a couple of hrs on the iso86 6.7 combo. | ||||||||||||||||||
Slowboat (25967km): Point Walter, WA, AU Late start after a big gardening/landscaping mission yesterday. Still got some wind. Nice warm and sunny! 35 outside at the moment. Strange to get a full on summer day at this time of the year. Pretty gusty but not unexpected with a northeaster. Used the light wind speed combo- 7.0m EIII, Mistral '12 68cm, 32 freeride fin. Spent most of the time over at Melville with Norts. There were some nice patches of regular chop so got a string of 35s on both tacks. The sandbar was a bit sketchy for 32s. I had no probs on my first fun over but norts followed me and said he was touching with his 32. I guess my board wasnt really in the water much . Wind konked out so back to the carpark at Pt Walter. Was barely planing most of the time and had to take a few bites to get downwind. Just as I was coming in through the boat channel to the beach I hooked a nasty little bullet for a peaky 37 on the dial. Sweet way to finish an awesome unexpected session. | ||||||||||||||||||

25 (7387km): Another SP trip with Ado. Actually the same day we did it in 2010 - 16 October - spooky! More relaxed pace this time - about 31 hours between take off and touch down at Perth. Actually got some sleep. As others have said it was a harsh day at SP hard to pick the right place and time. I struggled to get into any sort of groove with 2011 Koncept 5.8 and 2010 4.9 on 47 CA and both KA 21 assy and slingshot 21. No sailing fitness as a result of little sailing of late! Well done to Ado on his PB and many of the pit crew for their performances in the conditions. Great fun and I'll probably do it again! | ||||||||||||||||||
Chris Adamson (11668km): Another quick fly - drive - sail - drive - fly mission alongside the captain, to take on the Pit Crew on their home turf. It was a tricky day; besides the usual bitter cold, numb feet and hands, and blowing sand, it wasn't very windy most of the time, but every now and then a big squall would come through and light things up for five minutes or so. Initially I took off on the 6.3 as it looked to be only around 20kn and I thought I'd get some nice warm-up runs in, but just as I hit the course a mega-squall came busting through. I got blasted to a 41.7 peak while completely sheeted out as the water turned white and the air was choked with sand. Much to the disgust of Kato, who was watching, I backed it off and headed for the safety of the shore. It's a shame Spotty didn't catch that gust or I'm sure he would have an even bigger number than he already has. Anyway, I dashed in and changed down to 5.2 and got the weight jacket ready, but it backed off quickly for a good hour or so. After that it was just a case of waiting for squalls and trying to line up enough good runs for a decent 5 x 10. My best 10 sec was 42.67 and I got another 4 reasonable enough 10s in for a marginal PB to wrap up a ripper day. Well done to the Pit Crew who showed us how it is done once again.
