lao shi (27489km): A brief outing at Melville before it went stupid! Rigged in sunshine and not much wind, rigged the 6.3/90 and 5/Lurch combos. All the best speeds on the 6.3/90 before the water just became a mess. Put some weight in as the wind increased. Peak speed was over the nasty chop towards the car park and happy with a 35+ 10 sec. Just not enough space to get any really good speeds before hitting death chop! Wind was blowing 35knts when I decided to put my tail between my legs and head home. Good to see JJ and Hardpole giving it a go.
JJ (6448km): Melville Beach, WA, AU A crazy hour - got in the water just as the front hit at about 11.30 - wind 25 to 35 and horror chop. The only flattish water was deep in the pond on the western side but the gusts there were awful and made it un-sailable. I think my best 2 secs was actually sideways and in the air Still, a good test of the gear and first try with my weight jacket. Fun as always to sail with Lao and good to see Jeff cranking a couple of runs. Mistral/Lockwood 47, Code Red 5m, Lockwood 26
Hardpole (5685km): This wasnt nuclear, this was more than that. I think "Stupidly windy" would be a good desciption of it. Great to see it all but between the chop and the insane gusts it was all just too much. Looking forward to next time now. (might be a PB for shortest session ever sailed
scarrgo (6801km): Melville Beach, WA, AU work finished up at 3.30 today as the no one was keen on watching the cranes try and work in 45 knot winds so down to nice safe melville i went when i got there it was looking quite suicidal, but i rigged the smallest i had to find out got on the water with my gear depowered to the max i was just able to tail walk my way around the river the stormsurge was huge and hence there was no flat water, however if you timed it right there were a few realy scary little downwind runs out in the middle through the troughs and going sideways through the air all up absolutely smashed from a pretty short sail thanks to the amout of fighting i was doing with the rig and board still impressed with how the gear handled it saw greg, watched darryl struggle on too small a kit and watched PD struggle on too big a kit (he couldn't hold down his 5.4 ) surprised i even got an alpha today i certainly didn't get many gybes and the ones i did get were wobbly dodgey survival gybes 5.0 koncept, 90 mistral sl, scarrgo 24 weedy
