JJ (6448km): Melville Beach, WA, AU Got a last minute SMS from the Captain to backup his NM, didn't look too promising as there were some vicious gusts and accompanying lulls, so quite happy with the result. Well done Mark on cracking a 30 NM again Sailed with 6kg weight for the whole session today, makes it a lot easier and more relaxing when the gusts hit. Might have to hit the pies Well done Anita for charging across the river to Peli chasing a NM - it wasn't easy out in the middle. Good too, to see Ricey giving it some. Windxtasy (2881km): Melville Beach, WA, AU 4.0 Koncept (maiden voyage), nonose, 24 weedy No one at the river when I started rigging so I thought I'd rig the 4.0 Koncept I had bought for really windy days like yesterday and see if I could get the cams to rotate in some wind (when I rigged it on my lawn in no wind I couldn't get the cams to rotate). Unfortunately the cams still wouldn't rotate for me in lots of wind today, so I incrementally backed off the batten pressure until I could flip the cams over. It took quite a lot of increments and I nearly wore myself out trying to flip the sail after each adjustment. JJ suggested 4m might be big enough today, so I thought I might as well take it for a sail. It was not big enough in the lulls but plenty powered up in the middle of the river, I have to admit even though it was a small sail I didn't give it it's head and oversheeted it somewhat to feel safe. Very gutsy for a small sail, not twitchy, and very easy to flip to turn the board, waterstart etc. I look forward to enough wind to use it again. Challenging sailing. Very gusty plus chop and rolling swell. Never really felt comfortable today. My mission for today was a nautical mile, as I hadn't done one this month and needed a good one to improve my ranking on the ladies table. Not really the day for it. Less than ideal conditions for sure, but I went for it anyway. The swell was so big I thought I was training for the LOC! Having been cheated in my last nm attempt by stopping short of the distance (still a PB) I wasn't going to let that happen again and went all the way to Peli to make sure! Only my 3rd fastest nm but definitely a lot more challenging than #2. Anyway it was good enough to get me into #1 spot on the international ladies table for the month! I'll have to get a screen shot of that because it will probably never happen again! (It may even be gone by tomorrow, so excuse me for posting it today and not waiting until the end of the month!) KA72 gave me a very nice alpha of 21.27. I have no idea where that came from, but I know it is totally erroneous because I didn't even attempt any gybes or tacks today! I would have liked to claim it but I have deleted it and instead put in the best alpha from my first file of the day.
Ricey (1918km): Melville Beach, WA, AU Great fun in the morning, and I enjoyed sailing with JJ and Windxtacy. JJ was smoking and Anita did a couragous N Mile run in the significant chop and gusty wind. For me I stayed over the bank and tried speed runs and jybes. Pleased with a 30Kn, first this summer (did I say summer?). RRD 80 (really like that board), Koncept 5.0m, 26 Technics fin.
lao shi (27489km): Early morning session all on my lonesome at Melville. Few good squirts in the corner. One crack at the mile had a big tail walk in the middle so pleased with the 30+ LB6.3,is90,GW32 +5kg Afternoon session same gear but no weight. Went for an hour as I have been lazy on these all year which considering it had a swim in it and a patch of dogging is not bad. It was pretty wild at times out in the middle and could have done with some weight in the jacket.

Hardpole (5685km): Melville Beach, 5.8 Koncept and a few combinations of boards and fins, nice to get "back on the horse" after yesterdays fiasco. Great NM Anita, I wasnt going out much over the bar today myself.Later some of the gusts were also shifting a lot, hard to handle that on the little board so I went back to the sonic, a lot better.
Snake (13281km): Quick blat after work at Melville. Nice to get wet. Fogot the new toys after the weekedn so had a run on old faithful..pity the deck has no grip left whatsoever, made gybes impossible. Sonic 85, Goldwing 32, Ram 5.7
