6139 days ago At last the drought is over for me
broke my boom about 100m into first run had to sail rest of session with a boom 6 inches too long for the sail
took my new 2nd hand 6.6 koncept out with jp slalom 84l and my usual sawn off flying objects fin
great to see a lot of the SRM and a few others come down for what turned out to be a fair sort of day

6139 days ago F2 SX M, NP RS4 6.2m, JP Freeride Weed G10 36cm &Elmo Weed 45deg G10JPS52 32cm (soon to be introduced to Mr hacksaw)
Nice to have wind, but would not class this as a classic session, wind was up down round and round.
Big thanks to Will for the use of the Thommen SR50 got peak speak for the day of 35.2 on GPS and a 1.5km walk back, second run 33.? and a longer walk back, it's quick but it's either planing or on the bottom, still it shows potential.

6138 days ago 2 categories despite my seabreeze comment, it was nice to have a good crew at hardy's today, pity the wind wasn't a bit better.
Broke a batten on my 6.0 tushy, but tried it on my board anyway, seems the 20cm is a tad too small for it, the 5.2 felt better, but not quite enough wind for it.
Congrats to all who had PBs
[edit]
just checked the previous gpsarpro results with realspeed and there's a few differences, I've had to drop most of them down a tad, but it's increased the alpha about .7kt.
Had more alpha's that were too wide today than I've had for a long time, wonder if it's got anything to do with the increase assy nature of the repaired 20cm weedy.

6138 days ago An up and down sail at Hardies: some things went well others not.
First used modified concrete wave weedy on F2 Ride and tushingham Raptor 5.7, 27kts but hard to get upwind. Then used the same fin on Mistral Screamer concept: 27.5 kts and more enjoyable but still struggled to get upwind.
then swapped to Maisch fin ( the axe as Sam has named it) ok so it goes better upwind however top speed about 2 knots lower for downwind. The good news is the modified fin held up.
After that went for distance, 1 hour and alphas. Can improve on 1 hour by forgetting about heading back upwind from the flat area until 1 hour done.
On the bright side I wobbled through several gybes.... probably accounts for the alphas.
A great session, excellent to see so many people brought together by the challenge. There were a lot of smiling faces.
Thanks to Decrep for the sail tuning tips, I tweeked a couple of times following his guidance and it felt good towards the end (wind really only filled in towards the latter part of the session.

6132 days ago 1 categories Hardies run, 6m Ezzy, Hardie special, Bender weedy.
Was going to go for distance today but got dudded in a big way with the wind. At about lunchtime I was just slogging along (no way I could get planing) and hit a rock which broke Bender's fin. Very annoyed about that, but will hopefully get it fixed up this week. Got the royal sh!ts and left in a huff, then had a lovely wavesail at Avalon, 20 knots cross shore, caught some nice head high lumps, starting to get the hang of when to bottom turn . The wavesail made up for such a crap morning...
