Melville Beach, WA, AU

yeh started off as a great session got a few good runs early down the bank in the middle of the chop

wind swung a bit and it went very choppy for a while then got a good period of wind a reasonably flat water still can't seem to push this board past 31 very easily

6.2 relfex, 76 isonic, 30 jp sl

then 5.0 koncept, 76 isonic, 30 jp sl, 9kg

loving the first combo though was just the sweetest setup for all huey could through at me (i was just a little unfit to sustain that sail size so changed down)

Safety bay with JJ. Some wild squalls coming through today, easily 35-40knots at times. Went down with alpha on the cards and nailed it really early which was nice for a change. Tried to squeeze some speed out of it today but it was hard going in the chop, couple of flattish spots appeared but nothing special. Plenty of time spent massively overpowered..Still no doubt better that a day at smelville! Adam rocked up later on and registered 40knots on his wind gauge Surprised

A fun sail with Jake today, challenging trying to deal with the gusty wind in the pond to make the most of the flat spots.

Congrats on the 10k and to Mark who I am sure will make 20k today.

First after-work sail of the season!  GAF but nice strength in the bullets.  Great to be out on the water.

Canned it at the end because I could see a tempest brewing... only just derigged in time!

Great fun Laughing

Nice corner, Snakey boy and well done on the 10K. Good speed too.Cool

Wallyworld on the run after the W word with an alpha mission. Windy on the way there no wind when rigging up and came back as I hit the waterLaughing

Some big bullets coming through but really challenging for alphas. Hard to hold speed and get the lines right in shifting gusty wind. Happy with the result.

Flattest water at sunset as the wind died.

Sean I was planning to come down after lunch, I was looking forward to some strong wind. I was all packed and just as I was about to leave, the wind dropped right off and stayed that way until it was too late for me. I feel sad.Cry

Congrats on the 10 000 Snake, I hadn't realised another milestone was so close. We'll have to make it a joint celebration with Mark. I might have cracked the 1000 by then too!

Nice speeds for a wavesail Nebs!

Good boost up the table guys!

i'm really sad now too anita, got a phone call from a friend after posting my rather boring stats, my friend said i'd better get down to Fremantle sailing club soon cause my boat had some when in the last couple of days been blown over and the mast had snapped CryCryCry

got down there to find my poor boat in a terrible mess with the mast completely in two besides the mess of halyards and stays stringing it together

even to replace one third of the 49er mast it will be a similar cost of a brand new windsurfing 100%carbon race mast

now i can't sail the boat until i get the weeks of work done on it to get it ready again CryCryCry

Ouch! That is bad news Sean. Will you have time to get it fixed before the championships?

Boring stats? I'd be happy with any one of those numbers!

yep she'll be ready for the championships but it will be chewing up our already very limited training time

Anita i didn't say they were bad numbers i'm just getting tired of my ever improving consistency

but my least favourite stat of them all was that it took me from 9 in the morning till 3 in the arvo to do 77 km's Frown

my fitness is no where near what it needs to be

Sorry to hear about the stick Sean! Bugger. Interesting comment about the fitness..I jumped back into 16,s about 10yrs ago for a season and really Struggled the first couple of races..the muscles used in hi performance dinghies compared to windsurfing are completely different IMO.

yes i agree snides i just can't seem to even windsurf for a solid hour anymore, it's this winter sailing of having a insane day of wind once every 2 weeks compared with summer when i'm on the water every day whether it be at work, windsurfing or sailing between them i was fit enough to do 70 km's in a couple of hours instead of a whole day

Don't forget the cold sucks the energy out of you..you need to get some weight on like the rest of us!:) I wish I had the fitness to sail dinghys ..I don't recon it takes much to windsurf IMO you can sail as hard or as easy as you want on a windsurfer but a dinghy requires a shit load more input energy wise..at least for the length of the race.

snides i think the biggest thing it comes down to is technique and on the 49er unless dave mann is making us do figure 8's gybing then i don't get anywhere near as tired as i do on a windsurfer, probably says something about where each of our skills are Wink, but i think the weight thing is a good point, on the 49er being lighter is easier work wise but on the windsurfer being heavier to start with is a lot easier than being my weight and i think thats key here as i'm figuring out how to keep the board in the water with skill to go faster i am expelling alot more energy than if i used settings like mast debt position to control the trim, which is what i used to do
