Hardies Run, WA, AU

7.7 Code Red. 111 iso, choco 33cm weedie.

Meant to be a real early start to back Decrepit up, but due to only 3 hours sleep when my alarm went off, got up felt like crap and went back to bed. Got to Hardies at 8am, with Decrepit already sailing. Rigged and into it. Wind 10-12knots (not enough to be comfortable). Stopped for lunch at 12, with only 85km on the clockFrown. Still would have been set for a decent distance, IF the wind had kicked in the arvoYellYell.

Tried one more run and pretty much gave up! I think i became the sacrifical lamb. As I put my gear back in the car, wind did seem to come up a couple of knots. Yoyo even getting some good runs on the 6m. (Hopefully enough for Mike to reach his target)Cool....

Aim today was distance, forecast looked a bit iffy so borrowed Bug's 7.3, real glad I did, there was a lot of very marginal wind, I'd have been struggling a lot more on my 6.0. As it was 40 of these Km were under 10kts. longest I've ever spen on the water, (10hr 20min) if the wind had been a bit better could have been a PB.

Hands are very sore, but no blisters, so probably could have managed another 30km.

Big effort Mike. 40km at under 10 knots is dedication indeed. Either that or you are really stuck for things to do...

Was more down than up Adam, but it was nice and flat! A nice all day cruise, most of it in the harness even though not planning all the time. SE is a great direction here for distance, long runs from cobblers to Boundary Island in mostly flat water and knee deep at both gybe points, (all ways helps with big sails in iffy conditions)

Thanks for the back up Tom, really appreciated!

200km tracks

went SSW in the arvo, gybed on the outside sandbank then. And this time I didn't go into the rock garden.

Anita, wasn't all for the team's sake, there was a healthy element of self interest there as well, At the moment, I'm struggling with Kari over second place in the legends table.

Fantastic effort Mike, marginal to poor conditions make distance really hard oso this was a great outcome. 3 over 200Cool

As you say south to south east is a great direction.

Hope I can sail with you again soon to do some more!

Thanks people!

My body is still telling me I did it, but I'm surprised how good I feel.

The Avalon 7.3 is so light and easy to use and the water was very flat, think that cancelled out the tiring from slogging, and bouncing around in chop.

Thanks Kari, yeah top 3 is fine with me as well, I think there's a reasonable chance we'll both be in the Aus top 3, (but don't underestimate Mal, he did a big distance at the end of last year to grab world first of Peter Cuts).

I have a suspicion you're a better sailor than me and when you get good conditions will go straight past, but in the mean time I'll be trying to make it as hard for you as possible! Wink

Thanks Jeffro, it was my 2nd best attempt and in marginal conditions, so I'm more than pleased with the result.
