Decrepit (22059km): Hmmm, in hindsight I should have made this my distance day, could have been a good PB, but this old body not cabable of pushing the limits twice in 5 days. But was on target for 150kms, to back up Tom, till a big 3/4hr lull did me in. Started off on the bigboard with the 6.0 avi and 31cm woody weedy, got a bit much in some of the gusts, so changed to the 53 with the 24cm 45deg weedy. This was much more comfortable in the gusts, should have gone back to bigboard when the lull hit, but I kept expecting it to pick up. When I realised it wasn't going to I was deep in alpha land.
I expect big things from Tom, he's been flying around most of the day.
Elmo (15665km): JP SLW 92, NP RSR Eiii 8.6m, LE Weed 50cm After a hard days grind spreading sheeting contract additions and listening to the wind blowing all day I eventually got down the run to see Decrep and Tomski's cars there but no sign of them on the water which was a bit of a worry as it was fairly light at the time. Started rigging up anyway, spotted Decrep dogging back from alphaland and Tomski way of in the distance up and running. got my stuff sorted out and hit the water just as Decrep got to shore where he advised that Tomski was on a distance mission and spotting him over the other side of the estuary dogging it, went out to keep him company and help him along. Well that was the theory, Cause even though I had the fatty boombalatta gear I was dogging it as well for a while, eventually it picked up enough to get going so I started work on pinching up wind, which much to my surprise was fairly easy for a change, eentually caught up to Tom who was looking mighty comformtable, tagged along with him for about 3/4 of an hour, the wind was up and down buit overall a very pleasant sail, had the mast foot a bit to far back which made it a bit of a pain to get going in the holes. Was again working on gybing technique which is starting to show some dividends. Fun sail, Huge congrats and respect to Tomski for his efforts today
Tomski (6938km): Hardies Run, WA, AU Iso 111, Code Red 7.7, Choco 33 weedie Well! Went on a mission! On the water and going at 6.30am. In for lunch at 12, with 100Nm on the clock. Really wanted the 300km. At 290km the wind totally died, with absolutely stuffed tomski right next to the channel markers leading into the murray river at the east end of the estuary. Didnt think it would kick back in, but hour or so later back up and planning. The numbers say the rest I think. PB'd top speed for this combo too. Very happy fellow.. Super over powered one minute, under powered the next. Total 11:45 on the water. Going to HURT tomorrow.
Cheers Mike for another big effort!! Backing me up so soon after the last attempt and elmo for the company at the end. Gave me a 28th wind to do a bit more.
Doddi (2847km): Another quick sesh. Great day in warm water. wind just did not crank in
Hardie (20239km): Its Useless, TR-4 6.3m iSo 86, custom weed27, underdone most of time as wind picked up did my 3 fastest runs then had to pack it in to get boat back best part was sailing in warm to hot very flat water , worst part boat trip across and back |
