NP Soul 6.6m, JP FSW 107L, JP weed 31cm,

Sometimes I forget why I started windsurfing in 2001 chasing this wierd obsession called speed, and then I venture back out into the waves and it all comes back to meCool

The wind had been blowing all day at my place and knowing the swell was up Avi was going to be the play of the day, loaded up and headed down at around 2 to see Decrp and Lao Shi strolling down the street, found out from them that the wind was a bit sketchy and the middle carpark would be best.

A long perusal of the beach did see the wind was VERY sketchy but the swell was magnificent coming in well over head high. so we went for a bit of an explore futher south where it was still sketchy so headed back and after much Umming and arring rerplacing harness lines on booms and other methods of effective procrastination finnally decided to rig up and go out.

Hit the water to find out just how sketchy the breaze was, if it wasn't for the swell being a ripper I would have lugged the gear back to the car, instead I just wobbled my way out through the imapct zone and managed somehow or other to get on the plane and stay there, first gybe out the back I fluffed, oh smeg not good...thoughts of big bitey things out there helped the enthusiasm for a quick water start.

Headed in got planing  though struggling to keep up with the waves managed to pick up a small chest high wave couple of turns and then splat, a few more runs a few more waves.

Things were looking up but there was nothing special so I headed back to shore to shift the mast foot forward to help get going sooner.

Siting on the shaore I was watching a kiter get a pretty solid rinsing in the impact zone when his kite got away from him watched it drift away from him then noticed it was drifting towards the shore which I thought I might be able to intercept up near the boat ramp point, so I went for a jog, fark me I'm to old and fat to be doing this, got there just in time to wade in and grab the kite and drag it back in, one happy kiter came up the beach after a long swim in and settled in to sort out a 1 beer tangle.

I went back to my kit at a more liesurely pace adjusted the mast base and went out, Got a huge grin from Lao Shi on the way out who looked like he was having a ball.

I must have run up some serious Karma with Huey as the wave after the one I gybed on i raced in towards the reef and at the last minute I was able to go over the top and make the bottom turn for my wave ove the day from the Gap throught to in front of Decrep's place it just kept jacking up and lining up I was in muppet heavan, kicked of the wave fell in waterstarted and went out to see anther beautifull face pop up in front of me managed a quick gybe and got it for a few quick turns before heading back to shore to drag my kit back up the beach.

Went out again caught another wave fluffed the kick out and then spent the next 5 mins getting spanked in the impact zone unable to water start, I can say PFD's are good in the imapct zone.

Another run and flagged it for the day.

Never dogged for so long and so diligently, but it was worth it, that was a whole lotta fun.

What a way to spend the arvyCool

Good one Alby, glad you enjoyed it!!!

You've got to watch those waves that go thru to here thou, there's some very shallow reef in front of them!

Thanks Decrepit for the wave briefing and chat. Sorry I did not do it any justice. I was frequently lost out there as it all looked so different from the water!Embarassed

Hope the ankle comes good soon.

Slomo, thanks for the tour and glad I didn't take your board as I was delighted to see you get out and catch a few rippers!Laughing
