4343 days ago Fun NWer today, Herb, Mal and I were joined by a lot of others not in the GTC. Sam arrived towards the end of the session.
We launched from what looks like a bit of a boat ramp, but the boats would have to be very shallow draft! We thought it might be less of a mud crawl from there, but the ntheory did seem to work too well.
I started of with the avi 5.3 on the 48 with the 21cm weedy, wind picked up a bit so thought I'd give the new 4.4 koncept a run, and handed over the 5.3 to Herby.
Got going nicely on the 4.4, got my top speed just off the end of the spit on port tack, thought I'd get brave and change down to the 43 with the 19cm weedy.
That went well even though the wind was backing off got a couple of 34s, this time on Mals favourite run, close to shore on Starboard.
Showed Sam where not to gybe, between the spit and the island, we both had a bit of a walk to get into deep enough water to start without grinding our fins down.
Look forward to a bit more wind to get the small stuff wound up.

4343 days ago 2 categories S.A Coasty - LG (Live's Good ;)) - First I checked P.Kenny, then Venus Bay, after waiting for the wind yesterday until 12, I decieded to keep going, then checked Elliston and Cowell, all thoses places are good to sail, but a plus for potential speed at P.K.. Also I put N1 to Smoky Bay.. as there is an outstanding run on low tide!!
After rushing to make up time so can make it on time for the arvo sesh at LG. Got on the spot around 3ish to see the crowd having blast on a NW front wind. I was so nervous, dont know the spot, all with small gear, could not mesure the wind coz had to walk over there far in the water, so asked few guys, Mal was on 5.4 and small board, Mike on 4.5 and small board.. mmmh so I setup 5.5 and the 41, as I was rigging people was coming out the water.. more and more.. then someone said to me "its dropping!" faaaaaaaake no.. so put away the 41 and got the 47 out, by the time I finished messing ouround no one left on the water!!! faaaaake no way Im going solo outhere! Then Mike said Im coming out with you (txs Miiiike ad sorry for cutting the wind ) I felt relieved coz wldnt know where to go or do.. Aaah I forgot its a mud start on NW bit like at yoyo
Anyway we got out then follow by Mal and had a nice little blast It wasnt butter smoove coz was NW, and was quite holey here and there, but even so still flat.. Had only one small downwind smoove test of it, the speed was just going across the wind. I can just imagine when the spot deliver OMG!! I think we may have some lite wind in the right direction next couple of days.. Niiiice going Mike , I had to pull out my finger to bit you!!
Misty47, E2_5.5, Locky23 (just get away with it!)
ps: I may be sleeping under the rain tonight!! Also its good to finally stop, all that travelling is tirering!!

Another after work session, pretty much the same as yesterday only I took the smaller gear out today and sailed from the pong.
Bar was too shallow to speedsail although I did get across it, so went up pengoes way, had two cracks at the naughty taking a different line to normal. Didn;t realise until I looked at realspeed I only did 4 screaming bearaways otherwise I would have a slightly better 5x10
Almost ran over a dog again when I pushed through the lower channel to get back into the pond, same thing happened the other day when I came in the same way....

4343 days ago 2 categories Tabou Thunder 70cm, NP RSR Eiii7.0m, Techtonic Talon 38cm.
One of those days, melting my brain on a contract, felt nausious from the mind fck it was, usual trafic, get to the run rig up as quick as I can only to find no GPS.
Eventualy my son brought it down, the plan was to attempt another hour, Huey the sadistic bastard loves a plan.
First run felt like I was on a hydrofoil, the board was railing up and wheelstanding that much, second run my boom goes crack, only thing I can identify is the outhaul rope looks like it's slipped. (at the end of the session I found that one boom clip had slipped)
Back to the sand bar another fiddle to fix, of on a Naughty which felt a lot quicker than what it shows, possibly somthing to do with the fin still trying to kill me and the light wind at the end of the run, more fun for the day just to make it better I then tweak my back.
A few more runs a few more attempts on my life and decide for self presevation to flag it.
All that said it was a good way to cap of the day and give me a good apreciation of not hurting myself.
